HOW TO REMOVE A VIRUS FROM YOUR DEVICE

To remove a virus from your device, follow these steps according to the type of device:

### For Windows PC:

1. **Disconnect from the Internet:** Prevent further replication of the virus or sending information.

2. **Boot into Safe Mode:**

- Restart your computer and immediately press the F8 key or Shift + Restart button towards accessing the **Advanced Boot Options.**

- Under **Safe Mode,** select it in order to load only the essential files.

3. **Run Antivirus Scan:**

- If antivirus software is installed, such as Windows Defender, Avast, or Kaspersky, a full scan should be carried out.

- If not, download in Safe Mode and install using any other clean device.

4. **Usage of Malware Removal Tool:**

- Other tools, like **Malwarebytes** or **AdwCleaner**, even the most persistent infections can be removed.

5. **Delete Temporary Files:**

- Run **Disk Cleanup** (search from the Start menu) and delete temporary files that can house the virus.

6. **Uninstall Suspicious Programs:**

- Open **Control Panel > Programs and Features** and look for suspicious or unfamiliar software.

7. **System Reset or Restore (Optional):

- If the virus is still problematic, restore **System Restore** to an earlier point in time prior to your computer getting infected.

- Reset completely or reinstall Windows as a last resort: You can also use this option if you are unsure what else to do with the virus.

1. **Disconnect from the Internet**: Immediately disconnect your computer from the internet so that the malicious activity does not escalate.

2. **Activity Monitor:**

- Go to **Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor** and find processes that you do not recognize.

- Should you notice something suspicious, quit the process.

3. **Run Antivirus Software:**

- In case you have antivirus software installed, run a full scan. If you don't, download some good antivirus software like **Malwarebytes for Mac**.

4. **Check for Suspicious Programs:

- Applications: Under the **Applications** tab, uninstall everything that is unfamiliar.

5. **Browser Extensions:** Remove any questionable browser extensions from **Safari**, **Chrome**, or **Firefox**, as malicious browser extensions have been known to contain adware and viruses.

6. **Browser Cache and History:** Your browser will have caches and histories that will also require malware traces to be cleared from.

### Android:

1. **Safe Mode:**

- Press and hold the power button, then tap and hold **Power off** until you see the option to reboot into **Safe Mode**.

2. **Uninstall Suspicious Apps:**

- Go to **Settings > Apps**, and uninstall applications that you have not installed or seem suspicious.

3. **Install and Run Antivirus:**

- Download any antivirus, such as **Avast**, **Bitdefender**, or **Malwarebytes**, then do a full scan.

4. **Clear Cache and Data:**

- Go to **Settings > Storage > Cached Data** and clear it.

5. **Factory Reset (Last Resort):**

- If the virus is still there, you may want to do a factory reset. DON'T forget to back up your data beforehand.

### For iOS (iPhone/iPad):

Malware is never typically found on iOS, but if you believe your device is infected with malware :

1. **Delete Suspicious Apps:**

- Go to **Settings > General > iPhone Storage**, and uninstall the unfamiliar apps.

2. **Clear Browser History and Data:**

- Go to **Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data**.

3. **iOS Update:**

- Keep in mind that software updates also patch security vulnerabilities, so do not forget to update via **Settings > General > Software Update**.

4. **Reset Settings for the iPhone:

- Reset all settings: Go to **Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings**.

5. **Factory Reset:**

- If the problems persist, then go to **Erase All Content and Settings**; make sure you back up your data first.

After removing the virus, ensure that your device is properly safeguarded with appropriate software like antivirus, installed on it, and avoiding unknown links or downloaded files.
