HOW TO RESET YOUR LAPTOP

The method of resetting your laptop is mostly the same, but it may slightly differ depending on your operating system. Here are the steps for Windows and macOS:




### **For Windows (Windows 10/11):**

1. **Open Settings**:

Press **Win + I**, or click the **Start** menu and select **Settings**.



2. **Go to Update & Security**:

Scroll down and click **Update & Security**.




3. **Choose Recovery**:

- Click **Recovery** from the left-hand menu.




4. **Reset this PC**:

- Under **Reset this PC**, click on the **Get started** button.



5. **Choose an Option**:

- You will be presented with two options:

- **Keep my files**: This will delete all the applications and settings but retain your personal files.

- **Eraser everything**: This will wipe out all of your personal files, applications, and settings. Use this option only if you want a total clean start.




6. **Follow the Prompts**:

- Follow the on-screen instructions, and your laptop will restart and begin the resetting process.


### **For macOS:**


1. **Back up Your Data**:

- You need to create a backup; **Time Machine** is recommended or any other backup you prefer it.




2. **Reboot into Recovery Mode**:

- From the **Apple menu**, select **Restart**.

- Immediately hold the **Command + R** keys until you see the Apple logo.




3. **Open Disk Utility**:

- After your computer boots into Recovery mode, click **Disk Utility** and then highlight your primary hard drive, usually labeled as "Macintosh HD."



4. **Erase the Disk**:

- Click Erase to format the drive and clear everything. Between APFS or Mac OS Extended, select one, depending on your version of Mac.




5. Reinstall macOS:

- Once you've erased, go back to the main Recovery Mode screen and click Reinstall macOS.

- Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the operating system.
